The model 2424 Analytical Nephelometer is a special adaptation of the Hach 2100A Laboratory Turbidmeter designed to minimize the effects of color interferences in turbidity measurement. This instrument operates on the principle that light, passing through a substance, is scattered by particulate matter suspended in the substance. A strong beam is sent upward through a cell containing a sample. As the beam passes through the turbidity particles, an amount of light is scattered at a 90° angle to the beam and is received by a photomultiplier tube. This light energy is then converted to an electrical signal which is measured by the instrument’s panel meter.
